Life Coaching

Although the term "life-coaching" has come to mean anything and everything to do with advice on personal, work, family and leisure matters, its real purpose is to assist the coachee to create a personal life strategy where each of those important areas interlock in a synergic way.

Synergy

By "synergy", we mean the effective combination of left-brained (logical, rational, task-focused and methodical) and right-brained (creative, interpersonal, visionary and humorous) interests, activities and capabilities into a well-rounded lifestyle. All work and no play does, indeed, make Jack a dull boy; but all play with no work, unless Jack has been born rich, will leave him destitute (or, if he was born rich, most likely depressed - see Celebrity).

Analysis

Using a 3-dimensional personality profiling system, we first assess the capabilities of the coachee in terms of left- and right-brained behaviour and aptitudes. Then we determine how the coachee makes decisions in terms of intellectual (head) vs intuitive (heart) processes. Finally, we analyse the motivational style of the individual in terms of seeking reward or success vs avoiding risk, pain or failure. This provides an accurate assessment of the personality and style of the individual from which coaching can begin and against which its effectiveness can be measured.

Timescale

The ongoing coaching and mentoring is then conducted through a series, typically, of 6-8 (depending upon the targets of the programme) 2-3 hour meetings with telephone and email feedback between those meetings, the whole taking place over 4-6 months.

Benefits

Life coaching is appropriate for those wishing to develop their work or social repertoire; those going through life changes such as relationship and career transitions; expatriation and re-patriation adjustments; and adjustment to life after maternity leave, illness or other period of dislocation.
